The FedEx guy

Well, the FedEx guy just stopped by the office and let out a big "Go Cowboys!" to announce his entrance into our suite! Nothing breaks up the monotony of the day like a visit from our FedEx guy.

Our FedEx guy is not just an ordinary FedEx guy. He's got character. Personality. Flare, even. He's bold and full of energy. He'll talk loud and cut up whether you want him to or not. In a meeting? Don't matter. On the phone? Won't phase him. He's so comfortable in his own skin that it makes me uncomfortable!

Our FedEx guy - I apologize for not knowing his real name - reminds me of the character Darryl Philbin (pictured) from NBC's The Office. Only more outgoing and energetic. Shorter hair. And usually accessorized with fancy sunglasses!

For the past few years, the running joke in our office is how the FedEx guy comes in and addresses one of my co-workers with such joy and admiration, only to "blow off" the rest of us. We're convinced it's only because this particualr co-worker is 6-foot, 10-inches tall and a former basketball player.

"6-10!" he shouts upon entry to our office. That's his nickname for my co-worker, "6-10."

This is almost always followed by a 5-minute conversation with only my co-worker about the Cowboys, Mavericks, Spurs and anything else sports. It's as if he's known my co-worker for years and needs to catch up on old times, something even my co-worker can't figure out. Then he'll walk out and simply nod at the rest of us, if that.

Today, he was so thrilled about the Cowboys' 41-37 win over Philly that I think he forgot to ignore the rest of us! He was bumping his gums before the door was even open!

"Go Cowboys! We fixin' to do it this year, baby!"

"How 'bout them 'Boys, man?"

"What about my man T.O. 'breaking the tape' on that touchdown catch! I saw that and was like 'that dude burned both them fools, man!'"

As he walked out of my co-worker's office and passed by my office door, he paused and posed and pointed right at me...

"Cowboys, man, what you think?!," he says.

If I'd got up from my desk, I am certain he would either have high-fived me or quite possibly even chest-bumped me!

Yes, the FedEx guywas 'feeling it' today! And our FedEx guy is good. When he stops by, you get so much more than just a delivered package!
