Checking in?

A little high blood pressure prompted the wife to visit her doctor's office today. One hour later, she was checking in to Labor and Delivery for further tests and monitoring. Weird how quickly a better-safe-than-sorry trip to the doctor can turn into a two-night, three-day holiday.

Glad to report that all is well. The preliminary tests on Baby Girl were excellent. The wife's blood pressure went back down initially, but was back in the moderately high range a few hours later. They will monitor her through the night, check her urine for protein over a 24-hour period, run some bloodwork and then let us know what is next.

So they've taken the wife from me.

We'll find out - maybe tomorrow, but probably Friday morning - where it goes from here. Today, her doctor said it'll likely be one of three scenarios: 1) bed rest at home; 2) bed rest at the hospital; or 3) deliver the baby.

We're hoping for option #1, but even that is somewhat of a surprise to us. One thing is for sure: today's visit to the hospital awakened me to the reality of what is about to take place.

Gotta run... need to get that car seat ready!

Can you also wash all the baby's clothes? Wash her blankets? Orangize her room? Clean the ceiling fans? Disinfect the house? Organize all the stuff Jenny gave us? Wash our clothes? Oh, and don't forget about me...here at the hosiptal, will you come and see me? love you! :)

You'd better tap the brakes or I'm going to recommend an extended hospital stay to Dr. Clark.
